American Staffordshire Terrier (U.S.A.)
History and Origin
The American Staffordshire Terriers descends from fighting bull-and-terrier breeds and terriers, the breeding being started in the 18 century. The country of origin is England. The primary aim of the crosses was perfect fighting dog. Afterwards Staffordshire Terriers has been bred as a pet, family dog, child's guardian, show dog. So despite Pit Bull Terriers being close relative to Staffordshire Terriers, Staffs are less aggressive than Pit Bulls.
Temperament and Personality
American Staffordshire Terriers are intelligent, good-natured, alert and courageous. They are excellent guardians and watchdogs. Make a good family pets. Good dog for children. The AmStaff needs regular outdoor exercise. Early obedience training is essential.
Size and Appearance
The American Staffordshire Terrier is a strong muscular dog with broad chest. The coat is short and glossy. Height:17 - 19 inches; Weight: 57-67 pounds; Size and weight are to be in the right proportions.
Care
Grooming needs are minimal. It is good to rub his coat to make it gleam.
